C Form: Black History Month Project: Home

Assignment

For Black History Month, each C Form boy will research a figure in Black history, write an essay about his or her life, and give a short speech for our  Black History Living Museum.  Each student should select and research a person from the list below.

The project has 4 steps:

  1. RESEARCH: You will use our library resources to look up articles and books about your person, and record notes on your planning sheet or geography notebook.  We will learn the best way to do this during class.

  2. WRITE ESSAY: Once you have researched your person, you will write a 1-2 page essay telling about your person from his or her point of view.

  3. CREATE AND DELIVER A SHORT SPEECH (5 bullet points) FOR THE LIVING MUSEUM. You will be playing the part of your person, telling about your life.

  4. GATHER COSTUME AND PROPS: Costumes should be very simple -- do not go out and buy a special costume. Find a few components for your costume at home or borrow from a friend.   Sometimes a prop or two is as good as a costume.  For example, a pair of glasses or a gavel, book, mustache, etc.
