National Gallery of Art

The website for the National Gallery of Art (NGA), particularly the 'Research' tab, is a nice resource to consider while searching for information on your project.

The British Museum 

Similar to the NGA's site, the British Museum portal has an excellent 'Research' tab and blog filled with informative art history content. It also allows you to search the millions of artifacts in its collection. 

The Getty Research Institute 

A fantastic, freely accessible multi-media research portal that is an excellent place to begin your research. 

Google Arts & Culture

Explore this interactive portal for its rich, varied research materials and cutting-edge virtual reality tours through some of the world's great museums. 

Artcyclopedia

A great resource for beginning your research. Artcyclopedia is filled with general information on artists, paintings and museum collections. For best results, search an artist by name. 

Mother of All Art & Art History Links Pages

A tremendous art history resource assembled by the University of Michigan's School of Art and Design. 

 

Databases

JSTOR

One of the best multi-disciplinary academic research databases--JSTOR is filled with thousands of full-text journal articles and is particularly strong in the areas of: Art, Art History and Religious Studies. JSTOR is available on-and-off campus. To access JSTOR from home use the following credentials: 

username: ncs     password: 2ncs4jstor

EBSCO MasterFILE 

This database is an excellent tool to use for doing your research. It contains thousands of full-text articles as well as digital and audio-visual content. It is only available for use on campus via any networked STA computer.
